ADOC 2022 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT
MR. YOSHITO NAKAJIMA
Manager
Health, Safety and Environment Department
I have been the manager of the HSE Department since 2021. As a department, we strive to ensure HSE
compliance throughout all company operations. I believe no matter how good the systems, policies and
procedures in place, safety is always the responsibility of the individual and organization's safety culture.
Empowerment of employees, through provision of the correct equipment, necessary training and HSE
awareness, is key to ensuring that everyone understands their own responsibilities and the importance of
maintaining a positive safety culture.
This was demonstrated in 2022 during major maintenance works at the offshore facilities which involved
heaps of workers over a two-month period. We were able to maintain onsite safety and complete the
maintenance with no incidents as a result of our HSE training, campaigns and continuous reinforcement of
safety management standards and procedures amongst all involved.
This also contributed to all 2022 Corporate HSE KPIs being met, which is an improvement on the previous
year and a large achievement for the department.
In addition to our long-standing environmental initiatives such as the mangrove plantation campaign, osprey
& seagrass monitoring activities, we initiated a study to investigate the blue carbon storage capacity of
various mangrove stands planted by ADOC over the years. We also conducted a Marine Megafauna Study
to evaluate how ADOC’s oil and gas operations may interact with and/or pose a risk to marine megafauna
and identify possible mitigation measures.
In 2022, we were able to showcase our achievements regarding our offshore environmental initiatives
with other industry progressions at ADIPEC, a 4-day event hosted by ADNOC at the Abu Dhabi National
Exhibition Centre. Being able to share our research and promote sustainable development with the wider
community was a very rewarding experience.
