ADOC 2021 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT

            CLIMATE CHANGE

The National Climate Change Plan (NCCP) of the UAE (2017-2050) aims to address the causes and impacts of climate change
and to plan the transition into a climate resilient green economy. We have adopted measures to reduce our GHG emissions and
conserve energy and resources throughout our business activities.

The U.N. climate science panel has said man-made carbon dioxide emissions need to fall by about 45% by 2030, from 2010
levels, and reach "net zero" by mid-century to limit global warming to 1.5°C and avoiding the worst impacts of climate change.

Under the 2015 Paris Agreement, nearly 200 countries said they would act to curb the rise in global average temperatures to
"well below" 2°C above pre-industrial times and strive to keep it to a ceiling of 1.5°C.

Global warming is causing global mean sea level to rise in two primary ways:
                • Mountain glaciers and polar ice sheets are melting and adding water to the ocean

                • Warming of the water in the oceans resulting in thermal expansion and an increase in the volume of the water

The UAE State of Climate Report, A review of the Arabian Gulf Region’s Changing Climate and its Impacts, 2021 indicates a rise
in global sea surface temperature of 0.8°C by 2050 and 1.2°C by 2100. The report further states that under warming conditions
posed by climate change, marine life is not well-adapted to adjust. Adverse impacts may include a decrease in the body size of
ectotherms and thermal bleaching of corals. In order to reduce the effects of climate change, the UAE has launched its UAE
Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative, a national drive to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The initiative aligns with the Paris
agreement and efforts to execute the initiative will be coordinated by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment who will
ensure collaboration at national level to fulfil this objective. In line with the UAE initiative on Net Zero, ADOC is working on its
potential decarbonization strategies and developing studies to identify the potentials on decarbonization. These will be shared
            in our forthcoming sustainability reports.

1 - Ectotherms comprise of fishes, amphibians, reptiles and invertebrates
2 - The word decarbonization refers to all measures through which an entity reduces its carbon footprint, primarily its greenhouse gas emissions,
carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4), in order to reduce its impact on the climate.
