ADOC 2021 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT
HAZARDOUS WASTE
Hazardous solid waste generated at our offshore facilities includes contaminated empty chemical containers, hydrocarbon/
oily sludge, non-hydrocarbon sludge, molecular sleeves, ceramic balls, batteries, electronic waste, medical waste and Naturally
Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) waste. Hazardous liquid waste includes used chemicals, waste oil, inorganic liquid,
organic liquid, and used cooking oil.
All hazardous waste generated were transported to the ADNOC Central Environment Protection Facility (BeAAT) for treatment
and disposal. A total of approximately 531 tonnes of hazardous waste were generated and sent to BeAAT in 2021, which was
a 26% decreased from 2020. Of the total hazardous waste a small amount (0.03 tonnes) were liquid hazardous waste and the
remaining, solid.
NON-HAZARDOUS WASTE
Non-hazardous waste was generated at both our onshore
and offshore facilities. The solid non-hazardous waste includes
mixed general waste, plastic, paper/carboard, textile, glass,
metal, inorganic materials, tire/rubber, food and other organic
materials such as wood, garden waste. In total, 652.0 tonnes
of non-hazardous solid waste were generated in 2021,
which was a 0.02% decrease from 2020. Non-hazardous
waste was collected by Tadweer-approved Environmental
Service Providers (ESP), with the exception of domestic
and office waste from Mubarraz Island and the CFP which
was incinerated on site. If the waste volumes exceed the
incinerator capacity, they are collected for disposal onshore.
